Your HMNA democratically elected committee continues to work towards ensuring the safety and security of every resident, service provider, school parent and visitor who frequents our specially tended to and cherished enclave. 

We do this with a mandate from an overwhelming majority (90%+) of residents. We also do so whilst upholding our Constitutional Rights to living in a safe and secure environment as enshrined in the quoted relevant extract

 below and as recently upheld by the High court concerning the Lynnwood Glen community in Pretoria , and their overriding right to having a secure closure which exceeds that of a local authority.

36. Limitation of rights

.1). The rights in the Bill of Rights may be limited only in terms of law of general application to the extent that the limitation is reasonable and justifiable in an open and democratic society based on human dignity, equality and freedom, taking into account all relevant factors, including -

a). the nature of the right;
b). the importance of the purpose of the limitation;
c). the nature and extent of the limitation;
d). the relation between the limitation and it's purpose; and
e). less restrictive means to achieve the purpose.

Community goals, involvement and general feedback during 2008 - 2009:

.1. HMNA website and SMSing of important information to the community has been very effective;

.2. Parks looking good - special thanks to Dr. Harrisburg for donating plants and labour;

.3. Security of the Escom Servitude restored with permanent securing of the palisading;

.4. HMNA made clear its stance with regard to the rezoning conditions of the Hurlingham Office Park;  

.5. We stood our ground against the onslaught of aggression by rat runners:

...(a) JMB Metro called in to enforce road traffic ordinances;

...(b) Traffic calming measures implemented with some 15 new and upgraded speed humps;

...(c) Special permission from JRA after lobbying by the HMNA to slow incoming vehicle flow; and

...(d) Installation of a push button boom at Pinotage Street;

 6. CHERY dealership reported for violation of the pavement area with its illegally parked vehicles;

.7. Key card access at the pedestrian gates has deterred incidences of crime on foot;

.8. The barricades on Woodlands and TJ Street have been refurbished;  

.9. The request for compulsory billing of levy on municipal accounts is still outstanding;  

10. We have had the road markings re-painted and maintained upkeep of the booms and cones;  

11. Installation of Glass Recycling Bin initiated by Kim Harrisburg;  

12. Resounding opposition (60+) to Erf 468 for rezoning to allow for a drive-thru takeaway;  

13. The MUM Nursery School in Culemborg Crescent was successfully halted;  

14. Town planning has deemed structures at 37 Culemborg Crescent illegal and to be removed;  

15. After much instigation View Rd was once more illuminated by its once dormant streetlights;  

16. The sponsored weekly clearing of litter and the emptying of refuse bins by Herbie Ellison Estates.  

Should you notice any untoward activities please use your discretion and immediately contact either your or your neighbours contracted security company which would be either - CSS Tactical Services 0861-911-119 or 083-885-2184, SAS (011)884-6660, ADT 086 121 2400 or the SAPS 10111 depending on who would be the most suitable to resolve the matter.

Please remember that committee members receive no remuneration whatsoever for their efforts, and unselfishly give of themselves away from their families, career pursuits or leisure to ensure that we as a community enjoy this special habitat.

Furthermore, all who are resident here benefit 100% from the lifestyle that is afforded here – yet only 75% contribute – the community has requested that the 'Proud Contributors’ are listed to encourage more households to join the HMNA at a daily rate of a little over just R7 per day!
