5 EASY STEPS TO USING THE VALUATION ROLL SEARCH ENGINE

Step 1:  Click on this link - http://www.joburg.org.za
Step 2:
  Click on I agree  at the bottom of the page of the Valuation Services site and then on submit
Step 3:
  Click on "Click here to get the new market value on your property".
Step 4:
  Click on I agree and then on submit
Step 5:
  Complete the necessary fields as explained on the "help on how to search".

Remember: You don't have to fill in all the fields. Simply fill in the information you have, for example, owner surname (excluding initials) and township name.
       
If you live on a portion, enter the details of the erf and all portion numbers will be displayed.


For township extention numbers remember that you enter it as "name of township - space - Ext-fullstop-number of extension" (without any spaces, e.g. Hurlingham Ext.5)


Step 6: 
Click on the township name that's written in orange
Step 7: 
Click on the calculator to work out your indicative rates – (it will display the draft valuation, indicative annual assessment and indicative monthly assessment.)


If for any reason you are unable to use the Valuations Roll Search Engine, please call the Help Desk: (011) 375 5555 and select the option for Rates and Valuation Roll.

THE FORMULA TO WORK OUT YOUR INDICATIVE MONTHLY RATES BILL IS:


Market value of property
(get the valuation from the draft Valuation Roll) -R150 000 X R0,004 cents (the indicative Rate in the Rand for DOMESTIC PROPERTIES - excluding Sectional Title properties) = ANNUAL RATES PAYABLE. Divide this by 12  = and you will get your indicative monthly rates for the next year.
